BULGARIAN STORYTELLERS IN BOSTON
lecture, life performances and short movie projection
On May 23rd from 7:00 pm, at the Photonics Center, Boston University the journalist ELEONORA GADJEVA, the "Workshop for Civic Initiatives" Foundation, Center for the Study of Europe at BU and the Bulgarian American Cultural Center Madara greeted the audience with stories from the living memory of Bulgarian crafts and traditions.
The flavor of tradition and the authentic colors of love for the past and its
roots are collected in 25 stories, and preserved in an album book.
At the event dedicated to the National Day of the Bulgarian Education, Culture and Slavonic Literature, the "Workshop for Civic Initiatives" Foundation
presented its Storytellers project, showcase its Living Heritage project
through a photo gallery, 30 min movie, and highlight the work of the foundation.
The guests were able to enjoy also the live performance by:
- the Bulgarian women singing group "OMAIA", accompaniment by Zornitsa (Boston-based Balkan men's vocal ensemble) directed by the Taniana Sarbinska.
- and the Bulgarian folklore singer ELENA MANCHEVA
The event was part of the Bulgarian Folk Festival in the US (May-June, 2013) in support of the Bulgarian foundation " I can too" (www.icantoo.us) , supporting children with special needs in Bulgaria.
The event was supported by the Bulgarian airlines “Bulgaria air”
